This weekend was cheap, fun and good.
Friday night Carrie, Chris Metzger, Megan Moon and I went to Meadville to see a talk by Christo and Jean-Claude, artists that wrap things in cloth as well as do other things that are pretty cool with cloth, a 3 mile wall of it in Cali, draping it over a valley, covering a 15 mile stretch of river (15 ft off the surface of the water) in Colorado. Very cool and weird. I disagree with thier view of art though – art for the sake of being beautiful art, that it can never be to speak of something as well or, "it's not true art."
We then went to Red Lobster and had Missy White as a server – good food.
We came back and just chilled that night.
Saturday, Carrie and I went in to Erie before her shift at Dial America and went to the "Art of Coffee" seminar on how to tell different aspects of coffee and have some idea where it's from as well as how to roast and brew it properly. I loved it, it was a lot of fun, very interesting and we got free coffee. After that we went to the Kada Gallery looked at some art there – I saw an artist I like a lot, but I can't remember his name. He does nature pastels as well as acrylic panting that has big chunky lines, similar but not the same to Dave Quiggle's art. I dropped Carrie off at work and went to check out some acoustic guitars at Catwalk Music (I think it used to be Music Go Round or something like that). I like the sound of rosewood guitars, mellow but would be good for some of the stuff I am trying to do. I went down to the main branch of the Erie Library, I wanted to check out some books on coffee and one on reflexology – the stuff is pretty interesting and I want to learn some about it, when I went to check them out I owed $3 (Ryan took something out a few years ago and returned it late), so I couldn't. I put them on a table and went to pick up Carrie. When I picked her up, we went to Giant Eagle, I deposited $80 some to my PSECU account and took some money out to get the books. Got the books and headed to my mom's house – I wanted to call and make reservations for a vegetarian dinner that was going on that was in the Showcase in the paper, but there were no directions or anything, just a phone number, but all we got was an answering machine. No go. We played cards and listened to my mom complain about her walls an carpet not matching – I shouldn't have brought it up. Theeeeeen… we headed out to the Potter's House where I lived last year for a rootbeer kegger, it was a little too much. We left after about an hour and I dropped her off at her apartment and went to Uncle Charlies to hang out with Megan, Greg, Chris and Gretchen – it was a good time, I tried some whiskey & cherry Coke from the bar – not as good as with Mountan Dew, okay though.
Sunday. Didn't get up for my show. Picked up Carrie at about 10:25, we decided on a whim to go to McLane – it was good in comparison to the beginning of the semester – I liked it. I was invited to a dinner/party, a 'dinner party' if you like, at my friend Andy's house in Erie. We came back to Carrie's place and chilled for a little bit – Carrie and I were a little pissy for some reason, but it was okay… I took her to work and then spent 3 hours at Aroma's – mmmmmm, more coffee. I read from the coffee books, the reflexology book, The Cross and the Switchblade and did some journaling. I left at about 5 and went to Borders to pre-shop for Christmas. I saw Covington there and talked to him for a bit. I picked Carrie up at 6 and we went to Andy's. The party was a really really good time – he had 4 of his friends there, girls from Russia that lived in the area for school. They were very funny, Erin West and Jeff (her bf) were there as well, and Matt. We did some talking and eating and some swing dancing. We left to get out to the leadership meeting at 8, I like it but I am glad I am done…
that's pretty much the weekend.
I was a little pissy yesterday. I happened to see Carrie during the break in my Nature of Sound class when I went to get coffee in the library. I asked her to walk back to my class with me. She walked back to the building and then just kind of was like, "Okay, bye." It upset me a little, all I wanted was for her to just go out of her way a little bit. Later I called and we were talking and I asked if she wanted to come over to my room, she said no, and asked me to come over to her apartment. I've always had this issue that people never come and visit me, and I always seem to be the one doing the visiting, and to be honest that bothers me and all I really wanted to see was if Carrie really wanted to see me or just wanted me to come over – to see if she'd be willing to go out of her way to see me rather than me always having to do that. So I said something about it and she said she'd come over so we could talk.
Then Jason Weimer called and asked if we were meeting for dinner, I called Carrie and said that we'd talk later and she was okay with that.
Last night was a wierd WNL. Very low key, I ended up playing guitar and we had about 12 people there and just sang and suff, good times though. After which I took Carrie out to drop her car off to get the brakes fixed, we went the wrong way, blah blah blah…
Christina has been up and she came last night and we hung out at Tammy's afterwards (where Christina used to live) and watched Rat Race. While we were watching it she started smiling at me nice, like a content smile.
We were talking later when I was giving her a ride back to her apartment and she said that she had realized that she was taking me for granted a bit and that she did want to go out of her way for me. We talked for a while, and I was reminded over and over why I am dating her… good stuff. 14her.
