Last night, on the way home from a New Year’s Party, I remembered that 10 years ago I celebrated the most awkward New Year’s Eve ever. Carrie and I weren’t dating, but for some reason we thought it was a good idea for me to come down to her parents’ house for the New Year’s celebration and I took the Greyhound. We went to a party that two of her exes were at and it just became super awkward. We ended up leaving the party and she tried to go to bed before the countdown… she only got back up because it was her sister’s birthday as well and her dad made her.
Also, I ended up comparing her mom to a couch that weekend; it was awesome, I was super smooth. We still laugh about it though.
The decade started out weird and it ended up being an interesting one:

So, I’ve been doing a lot of web design stuff lately and I have this thing that I do that feels like cheating.
Sometimes I can’t find that code that is inserting something onto the page, I look through plugins and themes and everything and I can’t find where this little snippet or that little image is coming from. So I figure out what the code is that surrounds it, I head into my CSS editor and I add a little bit of code:
display: none;
Guess, what it does! It makes it not show up on the page. It’s still there if you turn the CSS off or if you look at the code, but it doesn’t show up.
Two questions:
- Is it cheating?
- Does this provide some sort of deep insight on how I look at the world and edit my life accordingly but allow the things to still be there under the surface?
One of the biggest rules of the radio is to not allow extended periods of time to pass with nothing playing. If you’ve ever heard this while listening to the radio you know how awkward it is after only a few seconds. You immediately lose listeners.
Sorry, for a while this blog has been nothing but an attempt to make sure there’s not dead air. I’ve been posting funny or interesting things that I find on the internet and I’ve been posting my Tweets from each week each Sunday.
I could make the excuse that I’ve been busy – I have been, but more than that I haven’t really been inspired above the busy that I am. This semester has easily topped out any semester since I joined the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. It’s been one (awesome) thing after another with very little downtime or break to sit and be.
The last arguably real posts were more than a month-and-a-half ago. I posted about my grandmother the pirate, before that I posted about students praying for another student that they didn’t know and before that I posted about questioning spiritual authority back at the end of September.
I could post about what I’m thankful for – there’s a lot. I could post about everything that has happened – there’s more than it would seem. I could post about what’s coming up for next semester – even more. But, mostly, I just wanted to inspire it a little.Hey, maybe you’ll comment and give me fodder for more things to post about.
